Logistics Improvements, Trainee, Gothenburg (Group)Read more
I am part of Stora Enso Logistics and I work to improve current logistic services from our mills to customers.
Born and raised in Borås, Sweden, I moved to Gothenburg to study at Chalmers University of Technology. I have a bachelor's degree in Economics and Manufacturing Technology and a master's in Supply Chain Management. During my master's, I completed an exchange semester at Bocconi, a business school in Milan, Italy. This was a great experience since courses in finance and business management complemented my engineering background well. In my free time, I like to work out and hang out with my friends and family. I am also passionate about sailing.
1. Why did you choose this industry?
When I started university, I could never believe that I would end up starting my career at Stora Enso, a renewable materials growth company. I had never been in contact with the forest industry and had limited knowledge about it. When I was about to write my Master's thesis, I came in contact with a container shipping company that wanted to understand what factors Swedish shippers of forestry products consider important when selecting transportation mode. During the interviews for my Master's thesis, I came across Stora Enso for the first time. I was immediately hooked by Stora Enso, a forerunner in an industry with very long history. When I saw the open position in Gothenburg, I applied directly. I really wanted to be part of the transformation that Stora Enso is going through.
2. What have been the main challenges in your position?
One of the best tools I use in my daily work is Microsoft Excel. I have almost been completely self-taught and I need to continuously develop my skills as new problems arise. However, there has been many challenging days. I wish we had learned Excel in school. Furthermore, at university, problems are often designed to be solved in a certain way to end up with a result. The work environment is often more complex due to many constraints. For me, the change to work environment has been very challenging and exciting.
3. What have you mainly learned since joining the company?
During my time at Stora Enso I have learned a lot. Being part of the trainee program has given me the opportunity to challenge myself in various situations. During the trainee modules at IMD, a business school in Lausanne, Switzerland, we experienced several team building activities. What I learned at IMD has been valuable for my personal development. Professionally, I have had the chance to transform some of the theoretical knowledge I learned in university into practice. I have also met people all across the company and visited many of our operations. This has helped me to understand our supply chains, something I think is very interesting.
